Vermont Artist Woody Jackson: Cows!
As part of our Vermont Artist unit, Kindergarten artists studied Woody Jackson. Woody Jackson is famous for his cow paintings and prints and is the artist behind Ben and Jerry's iconic Holsteins. We looked at many of Jackson's paintings and then used watercolors, Sharpie markers and oil pastels to create cow pictures.

Inspired by Romare Bearden's Jazz Collages
First and second graders learned about artist Romare Bearden. Bearden lived in Harelm during the birth of the jazz age. Many of his mixed media collages show jazz musicians and dancers. We looked at many of Bearden's jazz collages and then created our own using a variety of materials.
