Self Portraits with One or Two Primary Colors

Third and Fourth grade artists used one primary color to draw their self portraits. Fifth and Sixth grade artists used two primary colors to draw their self portraits. This was challenging and sometime humorous! We talked about creating contrast and highlighting the lights and darks in our faces. This activity is a warm up for our annual self portrait project.













Kindergarten Artists explore Watercolor

The Kindergarten art class read "What's What," a guessing game book with illustrations by Keiko Narahashi with beautiful watercolor illustrations.  Then we used watercolor paints on large paper.
