The final days in the Art Room

I can't believe that today was my final art class with some of my Friday afternoon classes! Yikes! Although we are now officially less than a week away from the end of the year, we are still going strong in the Art Room!  Here's what's happening.
Our ceramic planters from the clay Artist-in-Residence are done! I can't wait to plant them and place them around the school! These were made by students who chose to work with local potter Bobbi Platt and me during our field trip day of the Artist Residence. Have you seen the photos from the rest of the field trips? Click here!
First and second grade artists finished their Romare Bearden jazz collages. Click here to see the finished work!

These Art Affirmations were made by First and Second graders for the Bridge Street Art Fair. Oh Yeah!

We have been asked to make a mural for the Vermont Music Festival, which takes place in August. This piece of artwork will serve as the backdrop for the stage. I worked with fifth and sixth graders to outline a Zentangle-inspired design in black acrylic paint, then had help painting from grades 1-4. Stay tuned for the finished product!

And finally, What could be better than a Friday afternoon Kindergarten art class under the shade tree? We experimented with color-changing markers and had some in-depth conversations about favorite colors.
