Egyptian Masks!

Fifth and sixth grade artists started making their Egyptian masks today in art class.  They worked in groups of three: one student lay plaster strips on another's face, while the third read stories or replenished supplies.  The whole process ran smoothly and demonstrated trust, responsibility and control.

  1. These are fantastic! I've tried plaster masks on students' faces only once during my student teaching days when I was fearless! Now I do King Tut paintings with my kids, but this mask project has re-inspired me. Great job by your students!

  2. Thanks! This worked because I had great support from classroom teachers. The kids really enjoyed the whole process.

  3. Did you use cardboard or another material to mount the faces on?
