Where the Wild Things Are!

First and second grade artists read "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak.  I explained that when a book is a "classic" it means you will want to read it over and over again.  We looked closely at the Wild Things and talked about how we could create our own creatures.  We focused on TEXTURE and considered the different textures we might find on our Wild Things and how we could draw the textures.

We also watched this video adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are.  This video is much closer to the original book and more appropriate for children than the major motion picture.

Here are our WILD THINGS!
