"Harold and the Purple Crayon" Paint Along

Kindergarten artists watched a video of the classic story "Harold and the Purple Crayon," and did a "paint along" with the story using only purple paint. 

Wrapping up...

Today is not only the last day before vacation, but it is also my last day at Waitsfield until next school year. As my maternity leave continues, I will be wrapping up the year at Fayston School and Alex Morse will be returning to finish the year as my sub here.

Fifth and sixth grade artists enjoyed a fun pre-vacation art day! After putting our Hundertwasser Architecture projects on display in the library, we played a rowdy game of Luck of the Draw. 

Before leaving for vacation, I wanted to make sure that the walls were filled with the latest and greatest from the art room. 

Third and fourth graders' Onomatopeoia words inspired by Roy Lichtenstein are bringing some POP to the halls!

Third and fourth graders looked at the art of Roy Lichtenstein and learned about words that are onomatopeoic.  We illustrated the words in the comic book/pop art style of Roy Lichtenstein, then painted with the primary colors.

Fifth and sixth graders finished their Hundertwasser buildings.  They used iPads to take photos of their buildings.

Heart printing

Kindergarten artists used toilet paper rolls to print hearts to celebrate Valentine's Day.  Can you feel the love? 

Line collections and Primary Colors by grades 1 and 2

First and second grade artists learned about different types of lines.  We watched this video to see some examples of lines.

Then we used acrylic paint to create line collections.  Check out this time lapse video of one student's artwork that I made on the iPad using the app iMotion HD.
